Please join our club social paddle on the Monmouthshire and Brecon Canal (members will be prioritised/ a £10 donation will be required by non-members). We will launch and return to Talybont on Usk, paddling through the Ashford Tunnel and taking in the beautiful scenery before turning for the return leg at Llangynidr (approx 10km). The tunnel is dark so bringing a head torch or lamp is advised. The canal is relatively safe, however there are narrow sections, shallow areas and occasional tree debris to negotiate. There is plenty of parking in Talybont, both on street and a signposted car park. We hope to have a picnic at Llangynidr (weather permitting), plan B - there is a cafe and several pubs for post paddle snacks/drinks. Note - This social session requires little paddling experience (at least 1 x beginner lesson/ paddling comfortably on feet). Hire equipment is available - board, wetsuit, PFD & boots) if you don’t have your own kit, please contact Island SUP. Paddlers paddle at their own risk with support from Island SUP. Appropriate clothing must be worn, a leash and buoyancy aid are mandatory. Launch Time: 09.30 Launch point: Just South of Talybont Swing Bridge Please contact us to book your place.
